What Happens at a Learning and Play Studio

Learning Studio

Our learning studio is designed specifically to engage   children ages 0-3, with focus areas like soft play for babies that aren't crawling yet and big body explorations for full throttle toddlers!  Our indoor classroom has several focus areas that you would find in a typical preschool classroom, geared to the interests and abilities of these youngest learners.

Each month, our classroom takes on a theme that is reflected in curated play experiences that change weekly.  Some common topics we might explore are:

  • Light

  • Color

  • Sound

  • Things that go

  • Cardboard

Our studio space also changes to reflect the seasons, growing different focuses and supporting new ways to approach emerging developmental needs while  reflecting what we experience collectively together outside in our beautiful city.

Classes

Baby Riot offers weekday and weekend morning classes that are thematic explorations that focus on meeting and supporting our youngest learners.  Each class will guide caregivers and children through play designed to work on typical milestones and developmental goals.  Every class features a small circle time with music and stories, a large movement activity, and several open provocations that tie into the current theme. Our teachers and curriculum are designed to help cargivers understand what the learning looks like, as well as offer ideas to continue  learning at home.

Workshops and Groups

Baby Riot is a support community for our caregivers, too.  On Sunday, we focus on offering different workshops, book clubs, and circles to support ongoing caregiver needs.  Common focuses are around navigating behaviors, neurodivergence (in children AND parents), social justice and anti-bias caregiving, community connecting, understanding human development through play and so much more!

Stay tuned for more more information on upcoming summer session offerings!

Our Philosophy:

Baby Riot is a creative learning space for children 0 - 3 and their caregivers.  Our indoor play studio challenges and encourages children to problem solve, experiment, and explore their ideas in a space that is developmentally and age appropriate for their learning needs.  We are hands on, full-throttle explorers and offer quarterly classes based in infant and toddler development and interests. Drawing from over 25 years of teaching experience, our curriculum and environments change monthly and are well rounded to support a child's interests and development, with areas that focus on language and literacy, social and emotional development, gross and fine motor skills, self-awareness and identity, math, music, science, sensory, dramatic play, and art.

What Folks
Are Saying:

"Kiki is incredibly knowledgeable on stages of development and utilizes this to set up creative learning environments that are child-driven, engaging, age appropriate and novel: Art projects, music, activities to build fine and gross motor skills, and activities that encourage curiosity through play."
